Tips for buying fence
- Set corner and gate posts first and run a string line — everything else references them.

How many fence posts do I need for 100 feet?
At 8 ft spacing you get 13 sections, so 14 posts (sections + 1). Closer spacing means more posts but a stronger fence.
How far apart should fence posts be?
6 to 8 feet is standard for wood fences. Closer spacing is stiffer; wider spans can sag over time.
How many bags of concrete per fence post?
Plan on about two 50 lb bags per post for a typical wood fence. Taller or windier runs may want more.
How many pickets do I need?
Divide the fence length in inches by the picket width. A 100 ft fence of 5.5 in pickets is about 219 pickets with no gap — add a little for gaps and culls.
